The ninth edition, Port Harcourt, April 2026. Theme: Accelerating Reliability.
Ten editions, from a free one-day gathering in Lekki to the conference West Africa's maintenance community plans its year around.
In November 2017, eight speakers stood up at the Bespoke Centre in Lekki in front of a room that had paid nothing to be there.
The theme was Growth Through Excellence. The speakers came from Shell, Seplat, NLNG and NNPC's Warri refinery. Admission was free, because the point was not to run a business — it was to find out whether Nigeria had a maintenance and reliability community at all, or only a lot of individual engineers solving the same problems in isolation.
It turned out there was a community. It just had nowhere to meet.
Ten editions later, the Summit has run through a currency collapse, a global pandemic, and the largest transfer of onshore oil and gas assets in Nigerian history. The names on the badges have moved from Shell to Renaissance, from NNPC to NNPCL, from graduate engineer to plant manager. Several of the people who spoke at the first edition are still in the room.
Adekola Oladipo spoke at the first edition in 2017 as Maintenance Manager at Seplat. He is now Asset Integrity & Production Services Manager at Seplat Energy. A first-edition speaker returning for the tenth is, in a field with this much turnover, unusual — and it is a reasonable measure of whether an event has actually mattered.
The Summit has carried three names — AMRC, NMRC, and The Maintenance Summit — as it grew from a Lagos day-event into a three-day Port Harcourt conference.

Rebranded, and the international speaker faculty begins to build.
21–22 April. Twelve speakers including Joel Levitt, Nancy Regan, Rudi Frederix, John Reeve and Tunji Oyebanji of 11 Plc. The first true hybrid edition, with delegates joining from outside Nigeria.
The programme splits into parallel technical tracks.
"Empowering Excellence: Shaping the Future of Maintenance and Reliability." Three days, exhibition floor, open call for papers.
"Accelerating Reliability." Thirteen speakers across five focus dimensions, the first Reliability Excellence Awards, the Maintenance Technology Expo and a Young Professionals track.
"A Decade of Reliability." Nine technical tracks, the Decade Awards, an alumni homecoming, and a new Ports & Heavy Mobile track.
Early editions ran under the AMRC and NMRC names before the Maintenance Summit branding settled. The Summit is a distinct event from MRX Africa, the organisers' Lagos conference.

TMI Africa Group and Epsilon Reliability Solutions Limited have trained more than 3,300 maintenance and reliability professionals across Africa, the Middle East and the Americas, with over US$11 million in documented savings reported by the organisations those professionals work for.
The group operates from Port Harcourt, with offices in Lagos, Colorado, Texas and England, and a West African partnership with Assured Reliability Technologies in Accra.
The Summit is convened by Jonathan David, CMRP, CRL, CSSBB, CAMA — an SMRP-approved proctor since 2016, with 19 years in upstream oil and gas, who has trained over 400 professionals to CMRP specifically.
ASMRA, the African Society for Maintenance and Reliability, co-convenes the Summit and provides the continental membership body behind it.
